The Makoena Mabusela Bursary

This is more than just a bursary; it’s about supporting young women to honour the legacy of a woman who was passionate about women’s education and empowerment. The Makoena Mabusela Bursary Fund is invested in developing well-rounded individuals, so that graduates are not only academically qualified but are work-ready and socially conscious participants in the economy.

 

Criteria

Financial need:

Based on household income; All supporting documents must be submitted.

 

Year of study:

Bursaries are only offered to applicants who are currently in Grade 12 or in their first year of university.

 

Academic potential:

Applicants currently in Grade 12 and applicants already in possession of a National Senior Certificate:

minimum of 70% in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and 70% in English

Applicants currently in first year university, pursuing STEM-related study programmes:

minimum of 60% in each subject

Applicants must meet the minimum entrance requirements for their chosen field of study at university.

 

Study programme:

Applicants who aim to study full time towards an undergraduate university degree at a South African University in one of the following degrees:

Commerce – Economics, Business Economics, Accounting, Investments and Finance

Engineering – Aeronautical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics

 

Citizenship: Applicants must be South African
